What are Runes?
"Rune means mystery, secret or whispered wisdom"
Runes are an ancient system of symbols used by Germanic and Norse cultures for writing, magic, protection and divination. Each rune carries a meaning, a spiritual vibration, and was traditionally seen as a living force that could be invoked.
Runes aren’t just read, they’re felt. Each symbol expresses something archetypal, elemental & represents:
- a sound
- a concept &
- an energetic principle
For example, if we take a look at the Algiz rune:
Algiz represents protection & guardianship; it feels safe, but can also show up as over-defensiveness within your shadow.
